Since its founding in 1993, GESTOS has given high priority to its public policy actions, so that participation and representation will strengthen the monitoring or public policy.

The institution has always participated actively in this process, as a visible part of the Brazilian AIDS movement with continuous interaction in political struggles at the local, national, and international levels.

We have also focused our interventions in the field of human rights, to the effect that statistics mark Brazil as one of the champions in social inequality, mainly in the case of people living with HIV/AIDS.

This reality challenges GESTOS to strengthen the mobilization, monitoring, and evaluation of public policies, in order to become an agent that will drive repressed social demands. In this context, GESTOS has based all of its actions and has invested more and more in monitoring public policy.
